The Backlash - radiohead

Having grabbed 5 positions including number 1 in the inaugural Bawley 100 it is no secret that Bawley (heart) radiohead.

Today radiohead launched http://www.radioheadremix.com where fans can upload their own remixes of the Nude single.

To make the remixing easier, the separate parts of the song have been made available for purchase from iTunes. The parts available are bass, voice, guitar, strings/fx and drums. You can mix them in any way you like, either by adding your own beats and instrumentation, or just remixing the original parts.

The thing is... each part of the song costs the same price as a normal iTunes download ($1.69 in Australia) and any remix you create will become the property of Warner/Chappell Music, further Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Colin Greenwood, Ed O’Brien and Phil Selway will be registered and credited as the sole writers of the remixes of the song created by you.

Come on surely they could have done this without charging for the song parts, oh yeah the radioheadremix promotion is sponsored by iTunes.

But we will forgive them and recommend you check out the mixes already posted, the remix by Holy Fuck is pretty cool. For something more interesting check out the Amplive RainyDayz Remixes for free remixes of the whole In Rainbows album

Time to pull out the credit card and download those song parts.

It worked, radiohead have achieved their first US Billboard top 40 single since Creep was in the charts 1993.

Seems each of the stems count as a single download, so while the number of people purchasing the single itself is not that high, by forcing each person to download the 5 stems separately they have achieved a chart ranking five times higher than otherwise.
