Fortnight:Bawley Royale is the hottest end-of-year list on the internet. In Fortnite:Bawley Royale 100 songs are dropped on an ever shrinking island, with paired goals of claiming Victory Royale (the number one song) and performing fad dance moves. Listening to the list is fast, fun, free and highly addictive. However, some see Bawley Royale as a menace on young minds.
In 2018, young Bawley Royale listeners have been:
- Stealing credit cards to buy new hats, dance moves and positions for their songs.
- Staying up all night so they can find a few extra hours to pick their songs and work on dance moves.
- Pulling out of weekend hobbies and IRL meet-ups because it would be time away from their favourite songs.
- Listening under desks in workplaces and classrooms, in at least one office the list - and even any mention of it - has been banned.
- Screaming like toddlers when family members intervene to ban Bawley Royale on weekdays.
Many music media bodies are at their wits end. All commercial radio stations, one popular government funded youth radio station and the always relevant Video Hits have joined together to blacklist all songs from the Bawley Royale list. The official reason "lack of popularity", off-the record one music director confessed that "the ban is a co-ordinated response [to the Bawley Royale threat]".
Youth culture sceptic and local wowser Mr Con Servative has described Bawley Royale as a cross “between BawleyMon Go and The Bawley Games", Mr Servative says listeners are becoming addicted, suffering genuine withdrawal symptoms including "mood swings, urges, mopiness, middle age, and headaches". Others were also refusing to go to take off headphones because they couldn’t cope without hearing this years Victory Royale.
