Bawley (Hearts) 2014: Top 5 Covers of 2014

5. Scott Bradlee & Postmodern Jukebox - No Diggity (Blackstreet)

Scott Bradlee spent 2014 creating viral videos. With Postmodern Jukebox he creates jazz club versions of pop songs. Some are good, many terrible. No Diggity is always good (here). See them all.

4. Flaming lips feat Miley Cyrus & Moby - Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds (The Beatles)

This is the highlight from Flaming Lips guest filled version of Sgt Peppers (here).

3. Dinosaur Jr - Fade Into You (Mazzy Star)

The Mazzy Star original is just about the cruisiest song ever. The Dinosaur Jr version is faithful to the original and I love it (here).

2. The Smith Street Band - History Eraser (Courtney Barnett)

The Smith Street Band are great and Courtney Barnett songs are brilliant. This cover done for triple j like version (here).

1. Courtney Barnett - Cannonball (The Breeders)

Today's 'slacker hero' takes on a 90's classic. Pretty much perfect.

Check, check, one two, one two

F***ing Friday Freebie from ATP

This weekend Holy Fuck will join Throwing Muses, Bon Iver, Wire, CSS, Melt Banana and many more at The Breeders curated ATP festival.

A series of indie remixes, a solid debut album and some banging singles have positioned Holy Fuck as a leader among the many late 2000’s F**k bands (w/ Fuck Buttons, Fucked Up) and their set at Glastonbury last year was hailed by NME as one of the top three performances of Glastonbury 2008. All this means is ATP attendees should be in for an f***ing good time.

Holy Fuck play the Centre stage at 1:20am on Sunday morning.

Knitting With Kelley

The Breeders guitarist Kelley Deal has invited those attending next weekend’s ATP festival to bring their yarn and needles for a knitting/crocheting session.

Knitting With Kelley will run in the Crazy Horse from 2pm-3pm Saturday and 12 midday-1pm Sunday.

Deerhunter Review The Breeders

I agree.

Deerhunter join CSS, The Bronx, Pit er Pat, Bon Iver, Gang of Four and many more at (now sold out) The Breeders curated ATP festival.

Friday Freebie (part II): The Breeders - Fate To Fatal (mp3)

The Breeders Fate to Fatal

The Breeders are readying themselves to release Fate to Fatal a four track EP containing a Mark Lanegan collaboration and (strangely) a Bob Marley cover.

Just confirmed the Bawley team will have a notepad in the crowd reviewing the new tracks as the band plays them at this May’s All Tomorrow’s Parties festival (which The Breeders also curate).

The Breeders hand-picked line up will also include sets from Melt Banana, Bon Iver, Deerhunter, Gang of Four, X, The Soft Pack, Tricky, Holy Fuck, and CSS.
